Wood Pulp
The paper and tissue fiber, traded as bleached hardwood and softwood chemical pulp.
Overview
Chemical pulping dissolves lignin, and bleached kraft pulp in hardwood and softwood grades makes printing paper, packaging, and tissue, with price reporters assessing dollars per tonne. Brazil and Chile ship hardwood eucalyptus at the low end of the cost curve, Nordic and North American softwood follows, and China is the swing buyer. Graphic paper declined with screens while packaging board grows with e commerce, and containerboard, the box cousin, prices through published indices. Pulp cycles track restocking waves, Chinese demand, and capacity adds, with the 2021 spike and slump the recent template. Dissolving pulp for viscose and lyocell runs its own niche.
